How is everyone else tonight??
My daughterlet me sleep for four whole hours tonight. Awesome...
I am downloading The Scruffs to playin my desperation to stay awake.
Does anyone else become a raging bitch the longer they stay up? I just shouted at my daughter for talking... Seriously, what is weong with me?
Monday, July 14th, 2008
So, this is day four of next to no sleep...
I napped from 7pm unti I woke up at 10. Now my daughter's awake and there's no rest for me for the rest of hte night.
I can't even write because my brain isn't working.
Who else is up?
Sunday, July 6th, 2008
Hello, all. Is anyone else awake tonight?
I was attacked by a wave of sleepiness this afternoon, and subsequently slept all evening... So here I am.
I am listening to The Village soundtrack and whipping up a small bit of fiction that randomly popped into my head. I've no doubt that it will go nowhere, but it feels soothing to write when you're feeling moody, sometimes.
It's not a BAD kind of moody, though. I think it's just nighttime moodiness. Do you guys ever get that?
Anyway, off to do... Something. I have GOT to start getting to sleep before 4am... Current Mood: moody

I don't want to be left to my own devices, right now.
I am trying to write a letter to my penpal, but it is turning out too dark.
I need someone to turn off my thoughts. Is anyone awake? Current Mood: cynical

So my dad finally made it here after hours of worrying, yelling and pleading.
He's sleeping, the kiddo's sleeping, and I am wide awake... again.
What does everyone else do in the middle of the night?
Tuesday, June 24th, 2008
I know I've been posting in the daytime, lately, but I know it's when some of you Brits are up & about for your night shifts/insomniac wanderings. After all, it's always night somewhere
Anyway, 3 days left
for the photo theme, and I very much hope some more of you will participate. I <333ed lady_mitzi
's descriptions of her son.
Oh! And I also wanted to tell you about twitter
, in case you haven't heard already. You may think, as I did, that it's a stupid, pointless thing at first, but I've really grown addicted to it... It's a website dedicated to little status updates, like the kind you can do on facebook
. You can "follow" people and they'll show up on an f-list with all their recent updates—my name is k_bluebird, but only friend me if you're prepared for a bunch of updates!
I've been really bored lately... I have no job (immigration, lolz.) and no car, so I spend a lot of time at home sleeping and sitting in front of the computer...Addendum
: Oops, forgot my own twitter name... It's actually k_bluebird with an underscore... My bad.
I am up again tonight.
My dad isn't answering his phone, the train people can't tell me where he is, and frankly, I am worried.
I can't sleep because I'm too busy twisting paper into tiny bows in nervous anxiety.
What is everyone else up to?
EVERYTHING MUST GO!
One of my most recent discoveries are the obnoxious, milk-curdling Australian warehouse sale commercials, which apparently have become quite an epidemic over there... At any rate, you can get an idea of just how annoying they are via the first two links. The third
link, however, is a nice little parody. Hubby & I walked around the house yelling like that at each other for a good 20 minutes after watching it.Crazy warehouse sale!Crazy warehouse sale revisited!Crazy warehouse guy in everyday environments...?
So... What're you guys up to tonight? I'm wide awake with a sunburn stinging my shoulders and arms—every time I lay down on the bed, it scratches against my shoulders and hurts even more, so I'm opting to stay up for a little longer.
Don't forget the photo theme
!!! Current Mood: hot
Monday, June 23rd, 2008
What's keeping me up
Well, I'm still up! I would love to be getting some sleep, you see, but I have the nastiest
sunburn on my arms & shoulders. Hubby is being very faithful, cutting me small blocks of cheese, applying lotion, and blowing on my shoulders. Plus, y'know, eye candy.
Oh, and I got hit with a golf ball today. Not
a pleasant experience. Luckily it was just a putt of sorts, but it hit some rough terrain and bounced up to hit me in the leg. I have a nice, circle-shaped bruise forming.
Um, I guess I just wanted to complain. I actually had a really fun day... Current Mood: thirsty

Anyone else awake?
Saturday, June 21st, 2008
Hello Night Owls! It isn't the middle of the night here at all - in fact it's 22.54 right at the moment. However, I'm completely exhausted and I should be in bed, so I shall make the most of this staying-up-past-bedtime feeling I have by posting here.
I like the idea of the photo theme, and it's going to be an easy one for me. A couple of months ago I lost my camera and I've only just bought a new one, so I only have about five photos that I'm actually able to share. Those of you who already know me will be completely unsuprised to discover that I'm going to post a few pictures of my gorgeous and delightful son, Sam.
(Those of you on my friendslist can expect to see them again very soon!)
Friday, June 20th, 2008
All right, people! I've decided that we need a theeeme, just to get the ball rolling (I dunno about you, but I like structure). So we'll start with something pretty broad and see how it pans out, eh? (<—you'll have to excuse me, I'm surrounded by Canadians.)
So! Post some photos. It can be one—or it can be a whole set. Post photos of something that is important to you—a person, an animal, a location—and write a little bit about it for us. Please remember to use lj cuts.( my mother's backyardCollapse )
Edit: Theme ends on June 27th. Current Mood: bouncy
So... I can't sleep...
But I'm at that stage where my head is super heavy and I feel lightheaded.
Stupid money woes keeping me awake. How can I afford a suit for court and a funera not to mention bills when I can barely afford groceries?
Anyone else up tonight?
Wednesday, June 18th, 2008
Well, I have returned from my week in Florida... Both hubby and I are battling some fixable-but-annoying health issues right now; poor hubby will quite possibly need some root canals and is currently in a lot of pain.
But that's not the point!
The point is, I want book suggestions! What have you been reading lately?
I mentioned that I've been reading Born on a Blue Day
, an autobiography by a young man with asperger's syndrome. I've also heard good things about The Time Traveler's Wife
, so I was thinking about picking that up next.
So what have you been reading? I'm guessing there are at least a few bookworms floating around here... Reading is a good, quiet nighttime activity when one does not want to disturb a sleeping household. Reading also helps me get sleepy, I've found. Current Mood: tired
Me, Myself, I Current Mood: restless

So long for a short while
I know it's sort of bad timing to create a community and then leave the country two days later, but I am heading to Florida (my home) for a week, starting in 5 hours!
Hopefully my night owlery will serve me well today, as hubby & I have to leave the house at 3:30am to ensure that we make our 8:30am flight. We have three layovers, and it's going to be a looong day.
I will try to post on here a bit during the week, but I imagine I will be extremely busy. Don't think that I'm blowing you off, though!
If it's late and you're feeling a bit bored, check out the fail blog
, which is sure to inspire some laughs. This one
is one of my favorites...

Reading, blogging, socialising, my ridiculous child5. Three words to describe yourself
Currently really tired...6. When you became a night owl/What you attribute it to
I used to be a night owl because I liked to stay up late and party. These days I'm a night owl because I work nights in a BORING job (well, sometimes it's boring and sometimes it's about as exciting as anything can be while still managing to be fairly boring, yes, I could do with changing my career...) and then when I'm off work I can't sleep. Working nights messes up your sleep patterns. Because of this I'm obsessed with sleep. 7. Favorite nighttime pastimes
If I'm at work I like the bits between operations where I get to sit around drinking tea and reading my friendspage on LJ, and if it's my week off and I can't sleep I'll go into the front room and drink tea and go on LJ. LJ keeps me sane at night, so I've been busy joining busy communities that offer plenty of reading material. 8. Favorite nighttime snacks
If I'm at work - chocolate or doughnuts tend to be on offer. If I'm at home - it's always cheese. Mmmmm, cheese. *sighs*9. Favorite nighttime music
Music is not a major feature of my solitary late night activities.10. Favorite time of night and why
If I'm at work I like eight in the morning. I'm completely exhausted at this point, but at least I'm going home. If I'm at home - any part of the night I'm deeply asleep.
I feel like a fraud in this community as my night owlery is not so much chosen as thrust upon me, but I hope I'll find some empathy here nonetheless...
Anyway, I've just finished my run of night shifts and it's 9.46 in the evening and I'm taking a sleeping pill. I have the world's largest sleep debt to catch up on! Goodnight, night owls.
